Sock Sunday: Throne of Glass

It’s not like my need to be productive and on-schedule is sending me into a panic over this self-enforced Throne of Glass break, no, ha ha, what gave you that idea? I’m just posting this because it’s Sock Sunday and you guys haven’t seen me wearing my rage socks before.

I can refrain from posting more Throne of Glass stuff until my break’s over, of course, trust me.

    1. If you’re eager to dip a toe (heh) into the Sock Sunday thing, might I direct you toward some inexpensive striped, chevroned, plaid, polka-dotted, or interestingly textured black/white/gray socks?

That said, if you have a backdrop to put your feet on (blanket, wood floor, large pet) that contrasts the color/texture of your socks, I bet you can take some great photos with your plain socks. I believe in you, Joey.

      Excellent story, will reread. πŸ™‚

    1. It’s a weekly battle royale on Bookstagram/Booklr, in which all the book-bloggers take artsy pictures of their feet in their finest socks (alongside books, and often coffee, and sometimes pets) until everyone dies and wait I’m not actually sure what the point is. Some people have awesome socks, though, and I’m sure it’s every sock-fetishist’s favorite day of the week.

      My pair’s from Blue Q:

But all the Blue Q socks I’ve purchased (for myself and as gifts; I’m awful at picking gifts, so socks featuring curse words are my go-to) I found in bookstores. If you have a hip bookstore near you, you might check to see if they carry socks; save yourself the shipping fee.

      1. Haha! I didn’t even think about that. Now I really need a pair I can wear for meetings. This way I can smirk like the joker as I look down at my mean socks. I’m so evil. 😝 *Insert maniacal laugh here.* Lol.

  1. I haven never seen a pair of socks I wanted to own more…. And now that I’ve checked out the site, I’ve decided that I’m going to go completely broke. So, thanks, pal.

Also, this minor break might give me a chance to catch up to you so that I’ll actually be reading along instead of stumbling along twenty chapters behind. Win-Win.

    1. I know, it’s so hard to resist the socks; ten bucks a pair sounds fine, until suddenly you’re spending a hundred bucks on nine pairs of socks and WHAT ARE WE DOING WITH OUR LIVES, SPENDING THAT MUCH ON SOCKS. You’re welcome.

Hey, awesome! What do you think of the book so far? Am I being too harsh on it? Have I missed any obvious things to critique/lol at?

      1. You are preaching to the choir. Because those were my exact thoughts as I put socks into the cart… Then I had to re-evaluate my life because “should I REALLY be this reckless right now?” Now, I’m trying to decide which socks I can live without. I don’t even like socks. It shouldn’t be this hard.

You are definitely not too harsh. You’re tasteful, and I am living for every minute of it. As I read, I’ve been writing down the things I notice (and would totally rip on), and you always touch on them in your critique. I love it! Trust me, I will let you know if you’re missing out on potential lols. We must make sure we’re hitting everything. c:

      2. Ahaha, exactly. You’ll have to let me know which ones you get. I only have this pair and the “I hate everyone too” pair (though I have both eyes on at least five more).

That’s a relief to hear–though I know for certain you’ll start finding stuff I miss soon, both because (a) you’re sharp and can definitely pick up things I miss, and (b) I’ve started letting some things slide, or else each post would double in length.

So yes, when I miss stuff, please point it out! Having you to rage with will make the whole thing that much more fun. πŸ˜€

      3. It was such a difficult decision. I ended up getting the “fuck this shit one” (obviously), “carpe the fuck out of this diem,” and “my favorite salad is wine.” I’m totally buying more. I have no clue why I even restrained myself with just the three this time around.

Oh, I can definitely see these critiques getting longer because the ridiculousness is so real right now, and I’m only toward the beginning still. (Please excuse me while I go burrow in a hole like an ostrich because I’m about as sharp as a rubber knife).

Also, I look forward to catching up on this rage fest. You’ll know when I start getting closer because I will get to comment all of my crazy findings as well. Ugh. I have never been so happy to actually read a book I would have DNF’d otherwise.

      4. Excellent choices! Yeah, future purchases are inevitable. Think you’ll share pictures of them on a Sock Sunday?

I’m eagerly awaiting any and all comments have the time/energy/desire to share! And hell yeah, that means I’m doing my job right. πŸ˜€

      5. I am definitely considering participating in Sock Sunday. These socks are simply too good to pass up.

        YAY! I cannot wait.

    1. They’re from Blue Q, and I’ve found them sold at bookstores in here the States. I’m not sure if they ship internationally, but here’s their website (http://www.blueq.com/), and I’ve seen them sold on Amazon also. You should definitely see if they ship to the UK. πŸ™‚

This definitely won’t be a regular feature (I don’t have enough interesting socks for that), but I’ll probably do at least a couple more as the inspiration hits. I’m so glad you liked it! πŸ˜€

      1. Ohh thanks! I love socks so I will definitely be checking this site out, I buy a lot from Amazon as well so I’ll see what I can find on there first probably.
Well I’d love to see whatever books/socks you can match whenever you can πŸ˜€ I really loved this one because the socks just completely fit with your review for the book!

  2. Omg those socks! Gimme *grabby hands*!!
They’re precisely how I feel right now, wadding through a paper on punctuations (of ALL THINGS) in poetry.
There is such a thing as overanalysing!
