The Blogger Aesthetic Award

The Blogger Aesthetic Award

That’s right, guys. Instead of completing the (approximately) thousand other awards I’ve been nominated for and have left languishing for (approximately) my entire life, I created my own award and nominated myself, and it feels great. Because if ever there’s a time I need to give myself a pat on the back, it’s when I’m ankle-deep in disaster and sinking fast.

(Mostly I just wanted to try finally my hand at aesthetic/mood boards, and see if I can con anyone else into getting excited about them with me.)

The Blogger Aesthetic Award

Bloggers are (let’s just be honest here) the absolute best. There’s so much diversity and personality and creativity in this community—and what better way to celebrate those things than by spending the next twelve hours of our lives hunting down and collaging the images that best reflect our individual awesomeness?

The Rules:

  • Collect any number of images that you feel represent you as a person—your personality, aspirations, favorite things, anything at all that makes you you.
  • Put your chosen images together into a collage of whatever size and shape you find pleasing.
  • Share your masterpiece with everyone, in all the places.
  • Maybe nominate other bloggers as a way to tell them, “Hey, you, I think you’re awesome, and we should celebrate that awesomeness.”
  • Share these rules (and maybe the below tips, if you’re feeling helpful).

Tips:

My Aesthetic:

Liam's Aesthetic @ Hey Ashers!

My aesthetic includes hands too tired to hold books up anymore, lazy affection 24/7, tiny illegible handwriting, and dapper shoes. What’s yours?

Nominations:

Everyone. All of you are nominated. But I’ll list some people anyway, as a good example. If you want your name on this list to make your nomination official, just let me know.

(And no, I’m not expecting anyone to actually do this. No pressure.)

Azia @ The Uncharted Word
Becca @ Becca & Books
Diana @ Diana Prince Reviews
Donna @ Chocolatenwaffles’ Blog
Fadwa @ Word Wonders
Jolien @ The Fictional Reader

Melanie @ Mel to the Any

Orang-utan Librarian @ The Orang-utan Librarian

And hey, look, I made these not-terribly-ugly things in case anyone wants them:

    1. I feel everything in this comment to my very bones: excited to play with aesthetic boards at ungodly hours? CHECK. Trying to remember how to write good reviews? CHECK. Doing literally anything other than actually writing those reviews? CHECK. I’m glad I can provide you with something fun and ridiiiiculously time-consuming to distract you from writing your reviews!

Wait, no, hang on, scratch that. I NEED YOUR REVIEWS. WHAT HAVE I DONE.

  1. This is such a brilliant idea for a tag, and I love your aesthetic as well. I kind of want to have a go at this myself but I’m like you in that I have so many other tags I need to start working my way through. I think I’m six months behind now and getting further back every day. Still I can’t wait to see what everyone who takes part in this posts for their aesthetic as well. 🙂

  2. This is actually kind of brilliant, HAHAH – I’m REALLY excited for this award (may or may not have immediately opened Pinterest and WeHeartIt in separate windows…), and am most likely going to begin gathering pictures straight away.

Your aesthetic/moodboard is exactly what I would have pictured it to be – its overall mood and atmosphere is very you, so I hope I’m able to capture my own aesthetic just as successfully!

Thanks so much for nominating me!! ❤

    1. I’m glad you think so! I’m super curious and excited to see your aesthetic. Only knowing you as the Orang-utan Librarian gives you an aura of mystery, and we need to know more. (That said, I’d possibly lol myself to death if your aesthetic was nothing but orangutans.)

  3. I love this so much. I always enjoy posts that’s more about the blogger than the blog (or the books), and I think this is a great way to do it. Thanks for tagging me!

Totally in love with your aesthetics, by the way. Did you take any of the pictures yourself? Some of them look like your photos, like the one with the books on the table, the one with the notebook and the one with the bookshelf. Also, those dapper shoes are so dapper. 😍💖

    1. Thank you, Reg! I hope you have fun, if you end up giving it a go!

Not gonna lie, the idea that some of the photos look like mine makes me feel GREAT. None of them are mine, unfortunately, but you’ve just boosted my confidence in my photography skills 100%. So thanks for that! 😄

  4. OK… you are sharing your awesomeness again! 🙂 This is a brilliant tag and thank you so much for officially nominating me 🙂 I love your aesthetic! So… so… classy! 🙂
I’ve never done anything like this before… tbh, I haven’t even come across something like this before so this will definitely be fun!
Love the graphics as well! You’re just all kinds of talented, aren’t you? 😀

      1. Ha! Pastels and teacups sounds lovely, though. I was going to add just a field dark grey with something like “What the fuck” in a classy white typeface, but no. I am not badass enough for that. I must stay true to my nature and go with the snuggling kittens instead.

  5. So much love for and in this post! ❤ I love the idea, I love your aesthetic, I love you! Okay, I’ll calm down now 😀 Or not. I’ve never come across this kind of tags, it’s exciting! Thanks so much for the nom, I’ll make sure to do it soon!
Did I mention how superb your picks are? Real, raw and elegant!

    1. ❤ ❤ ❤

I’m so excited to see what your aesthetic is; I want to see how accurate my image of you is compared to your actual image. (I see you as warm gentle colors and delicious pastries and cozy blankets.) 😊

That’s it, I’m putting “real, raw, elegant” on my (imaginary) business cards.

      1. 0_o Did you hack my laptop when I was sleeping? 😀 I actually found a couple of yummy things I want to use for my aesthetic as well as .. nah, you’ll see! 🙂 ❤ I’d give your card to anyone willing to have a real look at books! You have such a great way of analyzing. And it’d work with all words 😀

I love this award! And yes dude, give yourself a big pat on the back and pop yo collar while you’re at it.
I think this is a cool way to show who you are and I actually got it right from your pics before reading your description below. I was off by thinking you love to snuggle (from the pics with the close up of the cats), but I guess I was close anyway since you have “lazy affection” there.
    And loves SHOES!!
Shoes and books are my weakness too.

    1. Ha! Collar is popped. 👍

It’s good to hear I chose my pictures well! Honestly, “lazy affection” was originally “lazy snuggles,” so you were right on there. I changed it because I really only snuggle my cats and husband, but I’m casually affectionate with everyone I’m close to. In any case: who doesn’t love a good photo of adorable snuggling cats?

Shoes and books are great weaknesses to have. [High fives.]

      1. I suppose that could be a good natural defense against forming relationships unpleasant people; if they quickly deem you stuck-up or weird instead of giving you a chance to warm up to them and open up a little, you know they’re not worth your time.

  7. I love this idea! 😁 And your aesthetic is lovely! I especially love those dapper shoes. I’ve recently discovered these aesthetic boards on other blogs and thought they were so cool but didn’t know how I would go about making one. I think I’d like to try my hand at it 😊 Thanks for tagging me! And thanks for creating this new award. I think it’s a brilliant addition to the bookish community 💕

  8. This is obnoxiously cute, so obviously I’m going to have to do it (once I conjure up an actual aesthetic). Also, I’m 100% on board with any tag situation that doesn’t involve me talking about books for the umpteenth time. Ahem. Your aesthetic is amazing and THE DAPPER SHOES! I’m here for it.

    1. I tried to imagine what your aesthetic would be, but all I could see was MORGAN IS LITERALLY THE BEST in white text on a black background. This is probably insufficient.

Ha! What, you’re telling me that you, a devout book-blogger, get tired of talking about books? What madness is this.

My dapper shoes are giving you a thumbs up.

    1. Your aesthetic is “awesome.” Though I guess that doesn’t help much, does it? I hope you feel inspired, and enjoy putting one together! And if not, my feelings definitely won’t be hurt. We don’t need to see your aesthetic to know that it is, in fact, awesome. 😊
